Your child’s immune system is essential to their overall health and well-being. Especially during developmental and teenage years, a weak immune system can make a child sickly. And when your little one gets sick far too often, they miss out a lot on the things young children do.
You do not want that, do you?
To ensure your child lives a happy, healthy and full life, use these tips to boost your child’s immune system:
1. Make sure your child sleeps a full night. Children, even adults need eight hours of continuous night’s sleep. This is one of few must-do’s there is for anyone who wants to boost his or her immune system, young or old. The immune system is only strong if the body remains strong. You need enough rest to maintain your physical strength. So put the mommy/daddy pants on and impose curfews on texting, watching TV, video games, talking on the phone and other non-essential activities on weekdays so that your child gets enough rest.
2. Give them a daily dose of vitamins. Vitamins A, C, and E are excellent anti-oxidants that work well for healthy bodies on the cellular level. Vitamin D serves as armor against infectious diseases. Multiple studies have shown numerous benefits of daily doses of these and other vitamins and minerals so give your child their daily dose.
3. Make sure they get their daily serving of fruit and veggies. Yep, diet plays an important role in your child’s health. No junk food. Cut back, if not totally eliminate sweets. Instead, give them healthy snacks. Fresh fruit is always a good option. Don’t forget their serving of vegetables, too. Either for lunch or as dinner side dish, make sure they get their share of greens and fresh herbs.
4. Let them go out and play. We all know exercise is important and yet, even fun things like playing outside is becoming very challenging these days, what with video games that encourage young couch potatoes to sit on their butts all day. Again, this is where you need to don your mom/dad pants if need be. Cut TV and video game time and take the kids out to the park to play ball or just skate around. It’s helpful if you play with them. Not only are you fostering a closer family bond, you’re also getting a workout yourself!
5. Encourage them to engage in relaxing activities. Stress alters children’s moods, eating and sleep patterns. It affects their happiness, too. It’s your responsibility as a parent to minimize to the best possible extent the amount of stress in your children’s life. An excellent way to do that is to have them engage in relaxing activities. Have them go to yoga classes with you if they’re old enough. If they’re too young, simple activities like playing with clay dough, painting or coloring books is a good way to help them relax.
You may have noticed these tips are not mind-boggling, exert-maximum-effort instructions. They are very practical and effective tips that actually work not just to boost your child’s immune system but also to enhance their overall health and fitness.
