The healing powers of breast milk can not be beat-if a baby is born preterm, the breast milk can make the difference between life and death, especially the beginning colostrum which is loaded with antibodies and acts as a laxative to help the baby rid himself of the waste accumulated within his bowels during the time in the womb.

Protein- amino acid taurine plays important role in development of the brain and eyes fats-enzyme lipase breaks down fat-large amount of certain omega 3 fatty acids which are important for brain development

Vitamins and minerals- substances that enhance the absorption of minerals and vitamins

Although bottle feeding can be a good way for a father or other care giver to spend some quality time. If the ability to pump your breast milk to put in a bottle is still a healthier choice.

Cons of Breast milk

DDT and PCB s are the most common contaminants in human milk around the world. others can be flame retardants, pesticides, wood preservatives, toilet deodorizers, and dry cleaning fluids.

Even though breast milk is known to have more chemical contamination, breastfed babies are still known to be healthier. chemicals come from the fat stored up in mom over her lifetime eating healthy while breastfeeding can cut down on contaminants. Stay away from dry cleaning plant environments, cleaning solvents, paints and finishes.

If you are concerned due to a job you have had for a long time dealing with any contaminants that may have been absorbed into your body to pass on, talk to a doctor and see what can be recommended so you still feel better about giving your baby breast milk.

It is always a personal choice whether a mother wants to breastfeed their child or give them formula. Knowing the benefits that breast milk can provide for your little one for years to come, may make the difference in what you choose to do.
